As a U of M employee, faculty member, retiree, student or alumni, you & your family members are eligible to receive a 10% discount off the monthly fee for Lifeline service. subscribers to maintain their independence by offering them
security and peace of mind.
Whether a subscriber is in serious need of help or simply seeking reassurance, a trained Lifeline monitor will answer their call for assistance 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.
MVN is proud to offer Lifeline's most advanced service, the 9500 CarePartner Telephone with Reminders. The CarePartner Telephone™ with Reminders offers all the benefits of the Lifeline Personal Response Service, plus useful reminders that help subscribers remember to take their medication, keep appointments, eat well, exercise, and participate in social events.
As a Lifeline subscriber, you will have a Lifeline communicator connected to your telephone and a personal help button to wear on your wrist or around your neck. When this button is pressed, the communicator sends a call to Lifeline's 24-hour monitoring center. Upon receiving this message, a trained Lifeline monitor will attempt to speak to you via the communicator box to determine what kind of assistance is needed. If you indicate that you need help, or if you are unable to speak, the Lifeline monitor will contact your responders (usually relatives or neighbors who can come to your aid quickly.) If the responders are not available, the local police and/or fire departments will be called to provide assistance.
Unlike some personal emergency response systems that charge close to or more than a thousand dollars before beginning service, Lifeline is leased to you on a monthly basis -- you are not obligated to buy the equipment and there is no long-term commitment on your part.
